A thought on Scriptcase UI vs. the new "AI-generated app" trend*

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a quick observation and hear your thoughts. Here in Germany, I sometimes hear opinions that Scriptcase looks a bit outdated or that its UI is “weak” compared to modern frameworks. As a developer who builds projects in both Laravel and Scriptcase, I have a completely different perspective on this.

Lately, I’ve been watching the massive trend of people generating applications almost entirely with AI tools. The result? Every single app looks exactly the same. Honestly, it feels like a huge step backwards for the industry.

When you compare that sea of identical, generic AI clones to Scriptcase, you realize something important. Scriptcase might have an older design philosophy, but its structure, workflow, and UI are actually much more refined, solid, and well-thought-out for real business applications. It doesn’t just look like a trendy template; it is built with logic and purpose.

Have you guys noticed this trend too? Would love to hear your thoughts on how Scriptcase stands against these generic AI apps!

Hello.
I’ve been working with Scriptcase since 2009 (version 4). I’ve developed systems of all sizes, and I have systems that have been running for 14 years without a single issue. My only task is keeping the projects updated with each new PHP version NetMake releases.
As for the design—yes, it is quite outdated; it still uses tables for everything. However, none of my clients have ever complained about the design. Clients care about functionality, security, and the results delivered.
This talk about outdated design is just programmer chatter.
I would take a system that isn’t pretty—but is functional, standardized, error-free, and built very quickly—over spending weeks or months delivering just a fraction of the functionality Scriptcase provides.
I currently work for a port company at the largest port in South America (the Port of Santos). We have an ERP with over 3,000 applications and an Oracle database containing tens of terabytes of data accumulated over nearly two decades. It was built entirely using Scriptcase, with only a few applications using Vue—specifically for screen layouts like dashboards. It is a mission-critical system for the port, and everything runs perfectly. The system was originally built in Delphi and was rebuilt in Scriptcase about 15 years ago.
Apologies for the Google Translate English. I’m from Brazil and only speak Portuguese.

Best regards.
