Advanced Form Builder

Any idea SC will implement drag-drop form creation like below?
http://formlogixhowto.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/creatorworkarea.gif

i feel like it’s better to design via drag drop rather than SC generate.
Also, sometime i think it would be better to get different buttons flying around the form rather than all on top of the Form/GRID

It would be a nice addition. But the best area for such functionality would be Reports.

I don’t think they have any plans do implement this soon. At least not in version 8.

The notes we have right now are this:

Import MS ACCESS, Excel and CSV files into relational databases.
:black_small_square: Improved themes customization using CSS3.
:black_small_square: New chart selection interface.
:black_small_square: New tool to manage all the images used in Scriptcase.
:black_small_square: Modified interface that has a improved Menu distribution making the applications customization easier.
:black_small_square: New chart application that uses drag & drop features.
:black_small_square: Form generation compatible with mobile platforms.
:black_small_square: Improved filter in grid applications, fully dynamic and defined by the end user.
:black_small_square: Auto Complete feature in all fields on the filter automatically.
:black_small_square: Added a new feature for dynamic group bys defined by the end user.
:black_small_square: Modifications in the calendar application, such as printing, new themes and permission to drag the record.
:black_small_square: Group By and Pivot Table creation using drag & drop by the end user.
:black_small_square: Updated the Code editor used in the events.
:black_small_square: New “Selection Column” option independent of the selected columns in the grid.

Maybe there are more new features, but if your suggestion were to be implemented on V8, I think would be on this list.

Regards.

i hope SC developer can hear my voice.
i experienced in giant ERP backround and do have a plan to comeout a commercialized ERP via SC.
It would make SC got good name as well.

Although I would welcome some more flexibility I doubt if I would want to be able to create forms like that. One of the advantages of the current situation is that it works fast. If I had to paint all my screens it would take a lot of more time. I am from the Delphi visual world and although it has maximum flexibility when it comes to designing forms, it’s even more time consuming to create good forms then programming the businessrules. I always wanted the option that Delphi would generate parts of my form (which it couldn’t

Totally agree, but the possibility to “paint” a form as desired with rag&Drop in some situations (without going to other extreme, using a blank app) is very interesting and usefull.

Indeed. But not as a replacement of the current situation. Perhaps as a second-stage option, generate first, modify then. Would have a lot of challenges if you re-generate btw.

Agreed with Giu.
SC now is either Generate 100% of none (blank app)

Thanks aducom for all the support and entertain my queries.
I came from PeopleSoft HCM, i would their PeopleTool which very powerful and friendly.
but i also understand i couldn’t expect SC can provide 100% features as the multi-million dollar tools.

Frankly, for indie, i really look what’s the extend SC can go.

Thanks again for all the supports

I am from the PeopleSoft world. I wouldn’t compare PeopleTools to Scriptcase. We are using Scriptcase because PeopleTools is becomming more-and-more complex and takes a very long time to get things done. Especially in the 9.2+ branch. That’s my point. If you need to customize all it simply takes a lot of time and SC is not designed to be that way. But I agree on you all that some more flexibility would be welcome.

Hi Aducom, i am SO GLAD finally someone can speak SC and Psoft!
Frankly, i really wanna build an effective dated page (e.g. Job Data in HCM)
also to build a workflow design app (even it’s not as complex as peopleTools)

i need SC senior’s advice whether i should continue with SC or not.
My goal is to develop solutions for ERP and CRM using RAD tool.

Peopletool is just to pricey for indie. Also i found more easy to dev using own tool.
My experience with Psoft, there are too many tools which hard to configure, buggy and sometime can be do in easier way.

We use Scriptcase for our self-service functions against PeopleSoft HRM. We have created a workflow module where HRM employees can adjust the flow depending on some situations. In general we use this because we can create the software agains a variaty of databases (oracle in this case). Currently one of the devs’s is implementing a soap module to post mutationforms in Scriptcase against PeopleSoft (afaik by component interfaces). Other purposes are Talent management, registration of (student) fundings etc. We find SC a great tool but are the first to admit that there are things to improve. But from the application side you must consider: is a good working application sufficient or do you need all the whisles and bells and make the site as good looking as possible. We think the first. The interface is consistant, fast, but sometimes you need to find some work-arounds to get things done. But benefits are fast development and deployment on a solid working application.

Very well said.

dear SC developer, i would beg for

  • Add Label into the form app, which is convenience to put in explanation on usage of the fields, form functions.

Each field has the ability to add help info to them

You need to look at the bottom of the screen for the fields

Kevin

Found it! Thanks Kevin

Hello,

I will discuss your suggestion with our team.

NO,
SC is the best. Because very fast.
