Hi
I have been exploring the replacement of my existing security module with the new one in 9.12.016 (4)
To ensure my safety
- I’d backed up the whole project and downloaded it.
- Incremented the project version so that I’d isolated the version to experiment with.
- Moved all existing security apps to a sub-directory to isolate them in case I needed to restore.
Sounds OK doesnt it! EXCEPT…
When you generate the new security module it cleans out all of the OLD apps(FAIR ENOUGH), but it also deletes all sub-directories (WHY??? ) In my case there were the backups AND some specially written security apps which were lost. This is just dumb!
What is worse is that it deleted the sub-directories in all of the VERSION id saved… which effectively destroyed my version control backups.
Top cap it all off, When I came to restore the backup from the export… the system refused saying that the backups were not created in v9 (They were, 6 days ago in v9.10.23… before I did the latest updates to current version)
This is just an appalling situation for Netmake to have created!
So be VERY careful if you want to regenerate the security.
Because I’m paranoid, I’d also backed up the scriptcase db prior to the last update and I’ve recovered the deleted applications from there (I HOPE!).
This is not the first time that Netmake have let me down like this and why I’m paranoid about developments. (and why our newer projects use other tools)
Edit1
When restoing the apps exported from the backup db, the import routine forced me to click on ‘overwrite’ on each app, which would indicate it was there but unaccessible. Hopefully this helps NM diagnose the problem
