I am trying to use blocks and change the colors of the labels and etc but nothing that I change seems to actually be reflected in the app. Am I missing something?

It works fine for me.
Maybe you try to create a brand new form (2 or 3 boxes) and repeat.
The scriptcase sometimes behaves unexpectedly.
