Bugs of V8 -------- Started!

hi guys,

congratulations all for the v8, there was a lot of things done in this version obviously, but as always, bugs all over, so i though to combine them here maybe helps developers to get them fixed (hopefully ASAP)

  • Grid: Date field, is not being sorted correct
  • Grid: Date is not being srotted at all even if added ORDER BY date DESC in sql part
  • Detail in grid: doesn’t take percentage width parameters for mobile (using Opera mobile emulator)
  • Detail in grid: has no option to align the labels, it is always as center!
  • Summary: configured summary properly, and chosed to display first a the gird… added the button to the toolbar of the grid to display summary, but button doesn’t show up… alternatevly, if selected to show the summary directly, it works as summary and shows annoying 2 buttons of “Advanced Search” up and down which can’t be removed
  • Menu CSS: will never be aligned like v7, when adding an icon to a menu item, it doesn’t align the the left-center… it is ugly, although is is 16x16 like the one i used in v7 without problems, here in v8 noway to align it at all, i tried in HTML themes, Menu CSS and in menu settings itself… no use!
  • Form looks good for mobile, but grid still shows ugly with necessary scrolls even if the the grid is minimal data and can accommodate mobile in vertical view

This is after 3 hours of exploring, I’m sure will find a lot of other things, especially in security stuff and deployment (didn’t try them yet)…

To give the overall impression, I see it like “fragile”, not reliable and fast responsive like the v7

A note to developers and SC team, we all found a lot of small small things in v7 and tiny stuff that can be done using tricks and workaround in v7 but the lack of quick fixing of bugs will make very guys upset, I’m one of them, therefore, I know it is not easy job, but I hope with v8 things become different and we get fixes faster… PLEASE.

Okay, where to report them dude? this is the bugs forum! Then if developers do not look at the forums to see what people are saying about their product, i think that is losing and failure strategy and not good at all! i guess they come take notes then bartho says ok noted, then? nothing, no fixes, that is at least what we saw with v7 :frowning: why they don’t install a bug tracker like other companies and make sure people vote for bugs then work on them in priorities?

sc is great, can be the number 1 development kit and combine beginners along with professionals, just needs to focus about the main things people look for, not just fancy graphics and charts, but functionality, layout, compatibility, performance, better mobile support, less resources consume, less deployment issues complications and huge size of library files, less security module bugs and errors, more advanced modules and better support and care for those who use the software, instead of searching in “google scriptcase compatitors” or “scriptcase vs?” there is a lot of room to improve yet, but i dont understand why they don’t! see the ready-code section, it only covers few static stuff, always repeated, why doesn’t have examples for java tricks, methods, php methods library that can rely on to have everything you want? make the business more reliable! let them have them in one single place as source of information for users… right now some are in help files, not updated, some online in knowledge base of kayako, some others in the videos section some more in webinars, and the rest in the form… forums are not well organized nor monitored, its you here (Giu), aducom Albert, jsb, and some known names you gave your time “thankfully” to us, to the people who stick usually with something that can be done using a deture or workaround, method, others will buy the support (i was about to do so) but when i sent them a message and got my reply after almost 30 days, then i avoided their support because i will get nothing but waiting anyway my questions will be about the development itself and about bugs, not to ask them how to use this and that, and hence, you can imagine their official support, USELESS.

moreover, java used in v8 to go to “advanced settings” from the said so “selecting to load modules for the app” doesn’t always work, layout, percentage, pixel, automatic… got much worse in relating to CSS in v8 :frowning: i don’t understnad why they make it more beautiful in the development area instead of focusing about the outcome product after deployment, instead of making you chose which modules to be loaded in that way “it is nice though” i am sure that hard work could be gone to fix the issues we face with other stuff, and make form application more into reliable can accept conditional colors for example, instead of using jsb methods to work around it, for example… make search function more reliable with less issues isntead of developing the “dynamic search”…

by the why, i just noticed that “sort” button doesn’t get clicked at all in grid, and i am not so happy for that, not only you can’t sort the table, but you cant also chose what to sort of like in v7 that modal window is gone, and the java methods used now is really bad one

i afraid that v8 will suffer more issues than before, i was so excited for it, wish they take action quickly, even i dont think so

this is not complaint guys, i am just saying my opinion, because i really like how sc works, and wish it be my number one tool that i can rely on

As far as I understand there’s only the form applications that are responsive?

The bug with MsAccess ODBC connection persist in V8, Sc only list the tables and DO NOT list the views (filter is chequed) when I try to cr?ate a grid application.

this bug persist since Sc6 .31 and I never can use V7 and never will use V8 up to fixed this bug.

please fix it.
