Dear all,
I have changed the background into white in a newly created theme, however when I select this them the background
remains the same. Even when I clear my cache and browser history.
Does anyone has a solution for this?

I would suspect that there is some element ‘in front’ of the background that has a different background color set.
Developer tools in Chrome, or Firebug in Firefox will show you what styles are applied to a given element. That should let you figure out what is on top of what.
