I need to create link files (xls, doc, zip, etc) so that the user may download, these files are located in a folder within the site.

Are functions can be used in any type of event or events and ajax in any kind of applications?

At the end of the day, you are just working with PHP/JS/AJAX. If it compiles, it will most likely work. SC is just a tool to make PHP programming faster and easier.
