Why is the pdf export depending on the JRE? Most linux providers do not support this out-of-the-box. Besides that, there are a lot of good working php pdf library implementations available. The less dependencies necessary the better?

Because of this I need to disable the pdf export. Where can I do that?

You can simply take Export PDF out of your application toolbox.
