Do NetMake update servers affects the generation and execution of projects and apps?

According to this NetMake post:
https://forum.scriptcase.net/forum/b…te-instability

" we have experienced instability in our update servers in recent hours, affecting the generation and execution of projects and applications."

It seems that the update servers affects the generation and execution of projects and apps. (?!)

So is the SC IDE performance affected by the status of my internet link and the NetMake update servers, even if when I develop both my laptop and the SC dev\prod servers are in the same LAN??

I’ve always wondered why the SC IDE performance is so erratic.
Sometimes is quite ok, but sometimes is very slow.

But still, why should the NetMake update servers be used when generating \executing apps??

hi, good question … it would be nice to know why.

Hi,

I too would be interested in hearing an answer on this; Surely code generation sould not require a connection to the Netmake servers?

What happens if Netmake go out of business?..

Regards,

Mike

Just a wild guess: I think that they are checking licenses, or include software from their servers. From time to time we’ll get an update license notice which can be time-consuming too…

Unless there has been a change in the last couple of weeks, I can confirm that generating apps/projects requires no active internet connection.

During October-December this year, we lost access to the internet for our entire site (long story), but we were still able to generating apps/projects even though our scriptcase dev server had no internet access for close to 40 days.

Do you have a pepertual or lifetime license?

At IDE login I would expect any SC license would connect to NetMAke to check for updates.
And with subscription licences a periodic check for its vailidity must be done.
But even in the “worst” case (subscriptions), I wouldn’t expect a check at each generation and execution of projects and applications.

I have a ScriptCase online account and it only seems to check once per day in development mode - when you first login. Not when generating apps.
