Do you recompile everything?

When you do an upgrade, do you normally regenerate and redeploy every application in the project(s)? Just wondering.

In my case no, I don’t. What I do is to recompile all project to see if everything is going well. I only redeploy the entire project if I have to upgrade the production environment.

But if you upgrade the development environment and then deploy even one app, wouldn’t you necessarily have to upgrade the production environment…and then a possibilities of the rest of the apps being out of sync? Or am I overthinking this?

When you have installed an upgrade of Scriptcase, you must regenerate your project and deploy it, including the whole runtime. Intermediate changes require uploading only the changed files, but personally, I upload the full project without the runtime, because that is easier than keeping track of the changed files. But that’s personal

That was my feeling on it. Thanks!

I do the complete deploy only if the message log from Scriptcase says I have to upgrade production environment… but that’s my personal way to do…

Yes I do, because some fixed errors may affect your grids/forms, even if deployment files are not concerned.

I’ve come to that conclusion. Thanks.

So do most of you NOT update until a few versions go by and then you do a massive update/debug?

I only update if needed, major bug fixes and useful enhancement. But for the enhancement I wait at least 3 or 4 releases before updating, so I am not one of the guinea pig to suffer about it.

I’ve started doing the same. Then carefully read here to find out all the caveats and how to fix any problems.
