It worked great in V8.1
I have the same problem. I believe the issue is that you have to setup tools in the tools bar for every widged.
If not done, nothing is displayed.
very disappointing and frustrating. need to change hundreds of apps by hand (migrated from v7.1).
This is a major issue for us.

- Access the scriptcase/devel/generator directory in the scriptcase folder
- Rename the file nm_gp_consulta_grid.php to nm_gp_consulta_grid_bkp.php
- Add the file nm_gp_consulta_grid.php (You will need to extract)
The fix will be available at the next update.
