How do I include barcode fields in a form

Hi there, I’m an Scriptcase’s newbie so I’m exploring the possibilities of this wonderful application before starting some serious projects.
One of the features I’ve seen is that we can set a field as barcode type so what’s the purpose of this kind of fields? if I’ve understood well the documentation we would be able to, for instance, to capture some values from different record’s fields and show them as barcodes in a form.

Is that true?
How can I do that? I’ve created a form and set some fields to barcode type but I still see field’s contains as numeric or text.

The barcode its only used in grid app and PDF Report, for invoice documents.
