Is it possible to use Scriptcase with PHP version 8.2 or above?

Hello.

The latest Scriptcase build includes PHP version 8.1

However, PHP 8.1 which has a critical vulnerability with a CVSS score of 9.8.

PHP 8.2.20 - 8.2.23, or 8.3.8 - 8.3.11, are the only builds that do not have critical vulnerabilities. Is it possible to upgrade Scriptcase to use PHP version 8.2 or above? Will Scriptcase even work with PHP version 8.2 or above?

I would appreciate any help provided in this regard. Thank you.

Hi Aden

It seems we’re in trouble. There’s no updates to SC since May. I believe they’re running out of programmers.

Hi JhonyDev. Thanks for letting me know. Yea, I feel like they have been slow and also not good with communication. My company might have to switch to using an alternate software as a result.

Also, based on the headline above, it looks like their latest update was on March 4th of this year.

I would not be so dramatic. My experience is that when they are quite for a long time with updates it is because they are working on a major release.

They are working on ver. 9.11 I heard that it is to be released in September. And no I haven’t heard if they were moving to PHP 8.2/8.3 - I hope they do in this new release.

I remember that they moved to PHP 8.1 when PHP 7.4 was end of life for at least nine months. It was said that it was because of ioncube. PHP 8.4 is coming in november and I think that supporting the latest version within a few months should be key for any product in this field. The main issue however, and that hasn’t changed over the years, is that SC communicates poorly. And each major version comes with tons of new bugs that eventually gets fixed, but it is at least unusable for a few months until it becomes more or less stable. So panic is not necessary, and as this writing is not new and many posts can be found on this forum, but before using SC you must be aware of the pros and cons.

No,
In one of the last webminar about 9.11 they told us that 8.2 php version could be available in a few months.

regards.

Could be is vague. PHP 8.3 is the current version and 8.4 comes out in November…

Hi,
I mean, I guess php 8.2/8.3, they didn’t give details…but for sure they said that the new version will not include php 8.2/8.3 but maybe it would be by the end of the year.
bye

That’s a bit of the issue with sc. I’ve been working with sc since version 5 something, many, many years ago. Never a straight answer. It remains mysterious what’s on the plate. I learned that it is always maybe, soon or to be expected. But it will come… Some day
