Languages (localisation) + French characters

Hi,

I experience the following problem:

My application uses the Dutch language by default, and I added the possibility to change the language to French. This all works fine, all my dialogs are being translated perfectly.
However, the data that resides in MySQL-database (UTF8-default collation), is not shown correctly, only when the French language has been chosen. The special characters, like ?, ?, ? and so on are being displayed differently?

Has anyone experienced this problem, and is there a solution to solve this?
If so, is there need for a database-change, or is there a certain setting in Scriptcase that needs to be modified?

thanks, regards
Glenn

There are a few things to check. The codeset of the application, database and database connection should be in line with each other. It looks like you have a mismatch there. Look at project properties, and your database connection. If you create your project SC will check this, but as you have added another language I think this is not checked.

Hi Albert,

thanks, I checked the project properties, the charset for the French locale was incorrect. Now everything works like a charm!
Next to that, and nothing to do with this issue but maybe you know why in many cases it takes a very long time before my scriptcase environment (local) is responding at startup?
I do have to disable the Windows Defender it seems, but even so, sometimes after doing that it takes still 30 seconds or more before my environment opens and I can start opening my projects…
Quite annoying, but I can’t seem to locate the problem, maybe you have an idea?

thanks, regards,
Glenn

Hi Glenn, I don’t know. I know that SC is verifiying it’s database now and then which takes time. Personally we run SC on a virtual server and that goes fast (except for the verification sometimes).

Ok Albert, thanks for your replies. My SC runs separately on a virtual machine, I’ll consider re-installing ScriptCase.
