Limit Negativity

Is there a way to limit the number of new posts a user can have each day to dissuade them from opening up multiple topics that are nothing but complaints? It seems to me that if one doesn’t like a development application, that they can find another one they like…versus forcing us all to have to filter through loads of negative demoralizing feedback. Sure, there are some issues/bugs (like many other apps) but they should be addressed in a constructive manner, and I’d even recommend a single thread with all the “issues” listed in that thread. I don’t come to the site very often, but I’m already tired of seeing them, and I’m a huge Scriptcase fan.

I’m against censorship in life and here.
Let people have their say.

It depends. If there are issues I think they need to be reported. If someone is continuously reporting the same issue and/or is ranting all the time… But it’s up to Netmake to decide what to do with it. As a moderator I try to remove spam, validate messages. And I accept criticism, after all why make things better as they are?

Hi Albert,

You always make things better =) Thanks for the response and happy Friday!

@mslatter It is annoying how loud somebody can be when feeling frustration or anger. We tend to eliminate topics that promote complaints for it’s own sake, but we can’t do much, besides acknowledging and acting uppon some complaints when they are right. It is a tough situation both for us as owners of the product and for you as customers that venture here looking for useful information, but if it is our fault, we have to suck it up and fix the issue as quick as we can. It would be nice to erase the topic once the issue is fixed, but mantaining a history for reference weights more in the balance.

I personally prefer to keep language polite and gentle, but I cannot expect a disgruntled user to mantain its composure when angry. I’ll put some tought on this issue to figure out a way to keep everyday users from seeing such unpleasant stuff.

Thank you.

If Netmake create some kind of bug reporting App we would not have to post bug issues here. If somebody suggests I should sit quiet and accept poor quality or ignorance I can say I’m out of that train. Users are always open to help. If there is more interaction and NetMake is more open to help from the outside there would be less work and less complains. The easy way to do this is to designate some advanced users to do a QUALITY CONTROL. If something is not ready for public it should not go to the user. This applies to IDE, documentation, examples etc.
Why Swiss are known for making the best watches on the world ? One of the factors is attention to details, precision and top notch quality. Netmake needs to consider this.
We are all developers and this same rule applies to everybody. If we offer poor quality software our users would keep complaining or go somewhere else.
With Google App Maker showing on the horizon Netmake must really listen to the user to not to be quickly eliminated from the market.

As an example of poor work is the Sample Project in Scriptcase. It obviously shows no one ever bothered to spend few hours and check the example Apps. If I’m finding 20+ Apps that either don’t work or have bugs or teach me nothing it irritates me to the point I’m getting sorry I have ever started with SC. For every problem there is always a solution and the question is if the one wants to concentrate on solution or keep complaining. All issues are quite easy to resolve.

  • ask users to correct what could be corrected on their end (i.e. documentation, examples, help)
  • fix issues which can be corrected only from the company end
  • designate selected user for testing and approving
  • document bugs and fixes

PS. if there is any kind of censorship I will be the first to leave this forum

@Jena_Matusen Easy, cowboy! We are not enemies, and this forum is not a dictatorship. All opinions are valid and have the right to exist and be expressed. We are not talking about a censorship, but a way to clean complaints from the view of people that just want to seek some information under these forums.

We appreciate your concern about our quality, and we are open and willing to listen and work on any issue you can point us out.

@Henriqueb Thanks for the positive response and I appreciate your efforts and perspective.

@Jena_Matusen I don’t see NetMake as a group sitting on their hands laughing at distributing poor quality as many of your posts seem to allude to. Rather I see a group who recognizes their product is extremely powerful and they continue to build on it, keeping it on the cutting edge (I’m not sure I want bleeding edge). As a user, not affiliated with NetMake at all, I come to the forum to figure out how to overcome an obstacle, seek help, and continue to learn how to build productive applications. Having to filter through multiple posts by the same user because they’re apparently unhappy with Scriptcase, is useless and a waste of my time. My suggestion to you, for what it’s worth, is to create your own single thread where you can identify all the bugs that are unacceptable to you (not sit quietly), and then edit/remove/add the bugs to the first post as they’re fixed/found. That would enable you to keep all your bug/quality control posts together in a single thread, and folks could visit your single thread when interested. If you’re still not happy, then find another development application (I’m making the assumption that nobody is forcing you to use Scriptcase).

mslatter - you have right to your opinion and I keep mine. Referring to several of my posts I simply reported number of issues in the SAMPLE APP which is included with the SC installation. No more or less. I do not know how long you use SC but we started with SC5 and I can clearly state that SC8 samples have had much less bugs than SC9 examples. If I want to take a look at how certain things are implemented I often reach to those examples. When I open an example App and see something is not working or is cerelessly implemented I can somehow withhold my frustration but when I open another and another and another example App and within 1 hour I find 10+ Apps not working or useless my anger escalates and this simply makes me thinking what can I do? Obviously the first thing is to report it to the company.
The problem is that over the course of 5 years or so we have reported well over 200 issues and only very few were fixed.
I do not care how care are you affiliated with Netmake but I tell you and others one thing: If we provide careless policy to our customers we would be out of business long time ago. For that same reason I expect company to fix issues and pay more attention to details so we have useful product not the product which on ever corner generates small or big issues and problems.
Pretending that everything is fine and SC is such a wonderful product would not fix the problems.

There is enough to say that the most problematic aspect ot SCRIPTCASE is: BUGS + CUSTOMER SUPPORT

If anybody has bouts please take a look at this FB survey. What users want the most from NetMake ?
