Multi line text field in form - not working correctly in form

Hello,

I have 6 days left on my evaluation version of ScriptCase and I only have one problem.

I have a form with a field defined as medium text in a MySQL database. I have the field properties set for multi line text, 50 characters by 5 rows. This is setup the same for ADD and EDIT. The problem I am having looks like this:

I want to add 1 line - then hit ENTER and add another line, but when I type the first line and hit ENTER the cursor goes to the next line, then as soon as I type another character, the cursor goes back to the end of the line above it. It works fine when I am editing the field, but does not work when I am adding.

This is what I want it to look like:

100 lbs. of cement
10 lbs. of carpet glue

This is what I get when ADDing:

100 lbs. of cement10 lbs. of carpet glue (even when pressing ENTER after the word cement.

Web development, as well as MySQL is new to me, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is the only thing keeping me from purchasing ScriptCase. I have been able to do everything else I need to do fairly easily.

Most of my clients will require this multi line text field, so without a solution I can’t purchase ScriptCase and I am really liking it, so I hope someone can help me!

Thanks,

Ted Berry

Hello,
if you want help from other programmers it would be a good idea to post you solution for your problem. Maybe another programmer is facing the same problem … and wasting his time …

Re: Multi line text field in form - not working correctly in form

Yes, you are correct…
While editing the form, from the ‘Form Settings’ on the left side of the page, I select the field and then selected ‘multi line text’ field in the ‘General Settings’ on the right side of the screen. You then have the option to select the width of the field and the number of lines. I had it set for 75 characters wide and 8 lines. That works great until you go past 8 lines, or whatever number of line you set it for.

The solution was to not set these values, but scroll to the bottom of the screen to ‘Display Settings’ and set the width and height of the input object in pixels. I set mine to 275 x 100. The multi line text box now works as expected, scroll bar and all. I have also set the font type, style and color.

I hope this helps someone else if they have the same problem.

Well, most of my testing is done and I am about ready to purchase ScriptCase. After testing about a dozen different products, ScriptCase in my opinion has the most features. I have sent several messages to sales@scriptcase.net, but no answer. It has only been about 24 hours, so maybe I will hear from them today. Support seems to be the weakest link in the ScriptCase arsenal.
