Re: New Topics in our Knowledgement Base
Hi SC5 team,
I appreciate English is not the first language of those developing SC5 and I know I can be a bit of a pedant, but as I posted elsewhere, can I again respectfully suggest the “inclusion” be replaced by “adding” or “add” new record, and “Edition” be replaced by “Edit” or “Editing” new record.
For documentation to be meaningful, especially in programming guides, accuracy is essentially. More importantly, newcomers to SC5 will be confused by the use of “inclusion” and “edition”. The words have no relationship or relevance to what is being described.
To be be exact, “inclusion” means
[li]# the state of being included[/li]
[li]# the relation of comprising something; "he admired the inclusion of so many ideas in such a short work"[/li]
[li]# inclusion body: any small intracellular body found within another (characteristic of certain diseases); "an inclusion in the cytoplasm of the cell"
[/li][li]# the act of including[/li]
which means nothing like “adding” a new a record or item.
Similarly, “edition” usually means “A literary work edited and published, as by a certain editor or in a certain manner; The whole number of copies of a work printed and published at one time; as, the first edition was soon sold”. Again, it is a long way from the meaning of “edit” as in “editing a record” or “edit a record” or “change a record” or “change a form” or “edit a form”
BTW, why not put up a wiki for SC5. I’m sure some of us would be able to contribute.
