Probably licence problem, can't login to admin panel - SOLVED :(

Yesterday suddenly a problem occured. I couln’t login to scriptcase panel, it redirect to login with some JS errors. I asked helped online, scrriptcase stuff connected remotely but couln’t help and they asked me to backup and fresh install. I did but the result was same which made me think it’s license server problem. Because I didn’t change anthing on server, even didn’t login to server for a month. I also mentioned this to support, but they keep saying something must happened on server.

After 24 hours trying to solve the problem, suddenly I could succeed login. I had backed up everything before, I roll back and everything worked again. So this was license server problem, not server problem.

There’s two big problem here:

  1. They didn’t tell (or even be awere of) this was a licence server issue. This cause me 24 hours without sleep.
  2. This means they check licence each time or in a period. So I’ve paid tons of money and bought this system, not rented. What happens if company close or even someone want to stop my licence.

I’ve started scriptcase around 15 years ago, now I’m a top level JS full stack developer. I make new projects with JS and perhaps just because this problem I’ll develop this ERP system with JS after now. Will also take maybe half year.

I just write this to help you if you have the same issue and be aware of this licence problem. Better write your code in VSCode with your best language.

I disagree on your last sentence. The use of low-code is to speed up development. Writing code in JS is certainly not speeding things up, not even when you write in tooling like React or similar. The risk of companies going broke is similar to open-source developers abandoning frameworks, or a single person building an application and discontinues.

I also disagree on speed up part. Before yes, scriptcase help me to speed up development for sure. But now I’m using sveltekit which means no back/front end switching, and also same language for both back and front end. Also using UI frameworks and of cource copilot, development is much more speedy. Only you have to have some experience and start re-using your code blocks. With scriptcase mostly debugging slow me down a lot. When some thing bad happens, I need to dive into server find the php code and do debugging.

Second part, abandoning framework and have to rely on single person risk, I agree. It’s maybe easier to adapt a scriptcase project.

suddenly the problem started again, I can’y login to my scriptcase panel. I didn’t change any config, even login to server. This is unacceptable. And the support team is just an operator no knowledge of code. He tells me my server is blocking login. Funny. My scirptcase advanture is over. I can’t trust any more.

I’m not going in discussion, as I personally have abandoned Scriptcase years ago, and am only here because of the University I work for and has a huge codebase. I don’t know sveltekit (heard of it), but I do know it is a new framework (less than 2 years stable) and although it looks promising, it is to be seen if they will find their position as Vue and React have way greater user base and thus (open source) support. Personally I don’t like JavaScript platforms (not even TypeScript). So I’ll stick to PHP generators (other than Scriptcase).
