problems with ajax refreshing (on change)

Hi!
I have followed the instructions of this video:

and also the instructions on your “knowledge base”.

And I can’t get it working. I do the same of the video, but it’s impossible.
I’ve seen several comments on this forum about ajax onchange not working, so it seems it is not only my problem.

What should I do to get it working properly?

I’ll admit that it is sometimes a challenge to get the ajax update working but that has only been due to a lack of good understanding or errors on my part. I setup about 4 ajax refresh fields yesterday and was able to get them all working. You might enable query logging on your database in order to see where the issue might be. That really helps me in order to see what might be wrong in the query syntax and keeping the ajax refresh from pulling the desired results.
