Quality Of service - just make your own conclussion

These tools are developed at Middle East. None of the company employees speaks native English, although every single piece of information is in English. They sell their products internationally. No problems with documentation, understanding, no funny prompts or crappy texts, pages which simply do not open or open with bugs. How does NetMake compare to Anywhere Software (not for the product features but the quality provided to the end user ?

Here is another company from Germany (obviously they speak German).

Everything on the website, documentation, help files , forum is in smooth polished English. When you call or contact tech support you will be talking to English speaking person and will have no communication problems. Ableton sells products on line all over the world the same way as NetMake does.

The owner of this company is Polish. I know him. Similar scenario. Everything developed in English then later translated to other languages (if needed)

I listed those because I use their products for several years and I’m more than happy.
Take your vote and send it to NetMake - they really need to make a change or they soon start loosing. I really love the SC idea and would love to see this product thriving but as the time goes by I seem to be more and more frustrated.

These tools seem to be great for complementing SC, i.e. to be used besides SC for other areas of development. I know your intention was not to promote these products as such, but thanks for the product references anyway.

I am a newer user of SC compared to you, and I guess still in awe of all the great things you can do with SC, expending a relative smaller effort compared to many other tools and/or frameworks. What I find really great about SC, is that they they focus on getting a complete application done with a great UI. I find that many other development tools (including the very big products) are so focused on their technical own delights (or perhaps complexities) that they forget to keep the end product and business aspect in view – i.e. a finished application that fulfils a need of the end users, and thus will generate income for the developer. I also like the fact that the applications run on the server so that you can avoid all the complexities of different OS environments and frameworks.

The above notwithstanding, I also think there is a huge room for improvement in regards to the documentation of SC. They need someone with a decent English and developer knowledge in SC to go through their web help and correct the English texts as well as expand the explanations, so that one can understand the features properly. As it is now, there is more trying out / exploring as well as search/posting on the forum needed, than I find optimal. They are making videos, which is good, but they also seem a bit disorganised. It should all be linked up together and organised properly. The focus should first and foremost, in my opinion, be on the written documentation, with lots of examples and screen prints. This is more important than videos, which are also okay, but more (again in my opinion) for promotional purposes.

As for the correction of bugs, I think they have more focus on it now, but a better reporting mechanism with communication from the developers could be great. I saw some post on the forum from one of the newer developers tasked with improving quality in development, which gave me faith. It will take some time, but I do believe it will improve.

All in all, I am optimistic with SC. But then again, I am comparatively new to the game.

I only showed that other companies (located in NON-ENGLISH speaking countries) have no language problems and have Everything published in English. Comparing to those companies NetMake looks really pale. English problems are EVERYWHERE :frowning:

so the bottom line is:

  1. NET MAKE is super resistant to developing products in pure English
  2. NET MAKE is super slow in fixing software bugs

would it change in the future ? well…if not they will not last very long

You can persist in searching for the dark side of the moon Arthur. If you are that sure you must ask yourself if you want to continue developing in SC as your investments would be useless if your worse scenario would be the case. I have a lot of experiences with competing products before I came here and I assure you that SC is not the badest of them all. There’s a vivid community here, the product - despite it’s flaws - is great, and there’s a great value for money. We all know that support is poor and that one of the reasons is the lack of English knowledge. That has to do with large countries and large spoken languages. I don’t know much french people with good English knowledge and it’s not that long ago that I needed to translate English to German for German people. That’s a cultural thing. Now I know that you have all kind of reasons why SC should do things better in English, and in general I even agree. But customers can make their own choice knowing that it’s a Brazillian product, with a long Brazillian history before it came to the world market. I don’t like the Portuguese names, but that’s something I saw already when I evaluated the product. So …
If I look around here then the market for Scriptcase is increasing pretty well here, I see a fresh growing community here in NL and there are more and more customers requesting for assistence in their development. I think that Scritpcase is doing pretty well. But I agree: there’s always room for improvement.

Albert - I agree for the most part with you. There is a number of minor issues with the product, company and service. I can live with those minor issues although the 2 I mentioned in my previous post are MAJOR! If you look up my other post I have given an example of companies from 3 different countries (non English speaking) and all 3 of them have excellent products and service in English. We are talking about German, Jewish, Polish. If I would list all companies I used in the past it would be probably a dozen…
Yes I evaluated a product for a moment (it was SC5) and I’ve herd negative opinions about the support not being able to communicate. I was hoping I can get help form the forum in English. I have to say if this forum does not exist SC would be already dead - although even this forum has so many technical problems. I really hate to bit the same drum over and over, but doing so I’m still hoping that NetMake management will wake up and changes their paradigm of making things in Portugese and then translating into English (which is absolutely WRONG)!
