SC9.7 Stuck Opening

Despite several system reboots, and waiting hours, I’m unable to log into my SC installation. The browser remains stuck trying to open the page and it never times out. Selecting any menu item makes no difference (see picture).

How do I troubleshoot? I have had this type of challenge in the past (even SC8) and I basically re-installed.

Is there an easier fix someone has discovered?

I had the same problem sometime ago. So what I did was

  1. Tried a different browser. This worked so I knew the problem was with the browser.
  2. I then cleared the browser cache

Had never cleared the cache so I tried that: erased 100% everything the browser had stored.

No difference still! Thanks all the same.

Yes, both before and after you suggested it. I usually use Edge but tried Chrome and Firefox Dev Edition too.

It is an obvious remark perhaps, but did you try a fresh installation? (Make a full binary backup beforehand and export all your projects, just in case…)

Yes, I’ve had to re-install afresh twice in the past due to this so I thought to check if others have encountered and there is a better/faster way.

I can’t get to export because basically nothing appears after login/password entry. So the last changes made to code before this happened I would have to redo (painful.) My last export was about a week old.

By binary you mean I make a copy of the scriptcase folder and copy across to overwrite in the new installation right?

Yes, I always do a full binary backup before upgrading, as I have had many issues in the past. Just an xcopy of the folder that I can use to write back. Of course, if you do not user the sqlite database, but MySQL (as I do) then you need to backup that one too.
But if your backup is a week old then that is a bummer. You can consider reinstall the previous version, but actually I would spam the chat. After all, it is an install issue, and I don’t see what formal support tickets have to do with that. SC simply needs to help you out!
