To disable SmartScreen in Windows 11, open the Windows Security app, navigate to App & browser control > Reputation-based protection settings, and toggle off “Check apps and files”. This disables warnings for unrecognized apps, files, and Microsoft Edge downloads.

Method 1: Using Windows Security (Recommended)
This is the standard method for disabling SmartScreen for files, apps, and Edge.
- Click the Start menu, type Windows Security, and open the app.
- Select App & browser control in the left sidebar.
- Click Reputation-based protection settings under the “Reputation-based protection” section.
- Toggle Off the following:

Check apps and files (for files and apps).

SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge (for web browsing).

Potentially unwanted app blocking (optional, but recommended if you are installing tools that get flagged).
- Click “Yes” on the User Account Control prompt.
