Yea, I got the same thing. At that point I had already downloaded the packages, but not actually installed the updates.
So, I couldn’t back up before updating as recommended, nor could I “exit” from the update page in SC8. I shut SC down.
Then on log in I get a blank page with some fatal error.
Restored from image, which had been taken the night before. Again, now “General Backup” option so I proceeded with the update.
Can’t say I was enthusiastic about stuffing around for a couple of hours just to upgrade SC.
Yes, I have also started the upgrade, then the warning came for backup, I then canceled.
I thought better I make a backup first.

but how did you risk upgrading without 8.0 backup?
