[SOLVED] WASTED SPACE - ignorance drives me nuts

please take some time and resize all fields that cannot show the whole string (text) or whatever they show. There is plenty of room everywhere and unless somebody works on some ancient monitor with 800x600 screen then I see no reason why to make my life hard and have me guess what’s in the field every time. I REPORTED THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND IT WOULD TAKE VERY LITTLE TIME TO FIX THOSE PLACES. THIS IS SO OBVIOUS AND SIMPLE FIX !!! If one goes toe the language editor screen almost every field is truncatred (while there is lots of room on the right). Does the screen with the runcated field look professional ? DEFINITELY NOT !

Hello,

This problem has been reported to our development team.

Thank you!

Hello aka, sorry about those little things. As you said, it is simple details that makes the difference.
When SC was created the base resolution was 800 x 600 and that’s why some fields and “views” were shrunk.

We often do a full review inside the modules when we are changing something, unfortunately some things may still escape our eyes, our fault.

But, that is why the client’s feedback is important. Thank you for your feedback. We will improve this and other things in the interface.

I understand your point, although 800x600 resolution is gone for at least 15 years. I’m in IT for 35 years and do not recall to see any monitor using 800x600 for the last 10 years.
Worst of all is the fact that I have reported this problem in SC5. TWO YEARS LATER IT STILL IGNORED WHILE IT TAKES JUST VERY LITTLE TIME AND EFFORT TO FIX IT. It is just a matter of resizing fields - SUPER SIMPLE ! ! !

Why can’t Net Make fix such simple issues ?

Now you do get a nice response and still reply in capitals… In black though. So that’s an improvement.

Albert - we are not awaiting nice responses but actions - it is that simple. I have seen the common statement “this has been reported to the development team” 100+ times, and issue still has not been fixed. Everybody has his patience limits.

Hello Mr. Klisiewicz,

If you report a problem, the least I can do is report it to the development team and keep you informed.

I do not fix the problems, but I request that the repairs be made ASAP. Of course this will depend on the severity and impact that the problem is causing.

Sometimes I seem to be missing when there are other factors that need me anymore, but I always try to answer everyone and even ask if some users have some serious problems to be reported, something that is hindering development.

I ask that you to keep the respect when report topics in the forum. Not with words written in capital letters or with vibrant colors that will streamline the problem, everyone realizes that. And once again I ask that you to keep the respect as this is an environment for professionals.

I understand your frustration. Please understand that the world does not spin around your reality.
You might not use a CRT monitor anymore, note that there are 7 billions of other people around the world and believe me, there are still users.
Also some old people still use smaller resolutions because they like to see things bigger and don’t care about the space. (Yes, from IT area!)

It was fixed the same day you reported.
We won’t send an update to all our clients with only this fix, so we are fixing, testing and implementing other things to build a new release (I believe you know how software development flows).
Every change in the tool has to be made thinking on all clients. Even the old ones which still use old browsers and machines.

It is all about statistics.

Hope I cleared some things out.

Cavadinha - NO, you did not clear anything about the main issue.

The strings showed in fields are still truncated and they do not fit into the fields. To fix the field size it takes only from few seconds to one minute. I’m still getting irritated by the fact that I cannot see the whole string while there is plenty of room to show it. All fields that you see in my initial screenshot should be at least doubled or tripled in their length. I do not see a single reason why not (and it has nothing to do with the screen resolution). There are many other places where the data is truncated (while there is plenty or room to show it).
If you still trying to convince me it is all OK with SC IDE - then this discussion makes no sense anymore, it just a waste of my time.

Arthur, I understand, I can confirm to you that it was fixed ages ago (in our local sc version) I don’t know why it wasn’t released to the public in the last version.
My job as analyst is, in short, maintain old things and implement new things.

BUT I am not responsible to choose the changed files to build the release to the public. Sorry. Have patience, I believe the next release will have this correction along with other features.

OK, thanks. I’m glad you at least realize that although it is not a bug it is very anoying no to be able to see the strings while there is plenty of room to show it. Waiting for new release.
Art
