Sometimes it is as simple as the error message itself.

The JRE was not found on the server. Please contact the tecnical support.

Contact the admin for the server you are using and have them update.

Scott.

Re: The JRE was not found on the server. Please contact the tecnical support.

I was referring to the hosting company where you are having problems. It is possible they simply did not install.

I would contact them and alert them to your problem.

Scott.

Re: The JRE was not found on the server. Please contact the tecnical support.

If you do not have access to the server, and they do not know how to install, then you have a problem. It’s like trying to run SC without PHP installed. It has to be there.

First, you have to ask why a server admin does not know how to install JRE?
Did you talk to the right person? The first line of defense is usually reading from a script. Climb the ladder until you get the right person,
Are you bound to using this host? Get another.
Do you have a fast connection? Run your own server, bypass the host farms.

Take your pick, but you are stuck until then.

Scott.

Re: The JRE was not found on the server. Please contact the tecnical support.

I ran into the same problem … I contacted my web server hosting company and they said “We don’t allow JRE or Java Apps to run native on the servers unless you move to a ‘virtual server’ account instead of a ‘shared hosting’ account” … So, I contacted 4 other hosting companies and they both said the same thing … basically, I’m finding that if you’re on a standard ‘shared hosting’ (even if you get your own IP and your own virtual space) then they don’t like Java to run native on the servers (for security reasons).

So, now my question …

Why does the PDF button/link require JRE, but a PDF report does not? … Don’t they both use FPDF classes? … if so, then why is JRE required? … In my opinion, JRE should NOT be required because it’s not a “common” scenerio on shared web hosting services, which I assume is where most installations of SC5 will go.

Why does the PDF button/link require JRE, but a PDF report does not?

You will have to corner Netmake on that question.
