im very much still learning the capabilities of SC. lets say i simply want to create an app that shows a few fields. validate them, and when submit is clicked, an email is sent.
there is no data base table to start from.
is this type of app possible? or does everything have to start with a table?

Welcome to Scriptcase. Well, you have two ways: one is using CONTROL app where you can create fields on the fly. The other one is, if you have a HTML template, you can put it into a BLANK app.

look for an example in the samples or if you started a project with security. look foor the password reset/forget in the security folder
I understood. First you have to create your database and a table with the fields you need and after this you can create a form with you need.
Keep in mind that a database well created is the most important step to have a good system, before creating the rest with Scriptcase.
I suggest you to watch the videos from Scriptcase and trying everything, to understand how things are with Scriptcase.
