Scriptcase 8 Installation

I am testing now scriptcase for two weeks… Ah hold it… testing dempends only on the installation…
And slowly i am really upset :mad:

At first i install scriptcase on the pc - but i don’t want wamp on my pc… that’s like gaming.

So, no problem, as i read, i am able to install the software on a server…and by the way no “hosted” server

At first i install the “compressed” Version… ok i must rename the files… i must “test” which configuration (vhost) is working… etc etc…
Then i recieve a lot of php fatal errors (php 5.6.25)
Allowed memory exhausted, undefined variables, and a lot more… by the way… php works without any failure on this server…

Ok - don’t work let’s take the package… ScriptCase V8.1 Installer for Linux64 bit
Ok - Installation is done… let’s try to start it

Oh…bad luck… that doesn’t work… “…components/apache/cgi-bin/php.fcgi) failed: Value too large for defined data type”
Let us examine this a bit…
Ohhhh we have a 32-bit Apache in a 64bit Installation-Package… that supposed to be funny?

TESTED UNDER centos.5 ? ha? how old is this software?
by the way - fcgi is outdated…

And by the way… of course the windows installation produces also a ton of failures…

And they sell this software without support?
It’s a effrontery…
From the support you recieve a linke to the apache docus - thanks but after 20 years i don’t need it.

The software is not cheap…
And i expect at least a error-free installation. …

The forum is not better (after registering you recieve the message “registration_gregister registeremail” - is that funny?
While i write this i recieve an invalid server-response…

I think it was the wrong decision to buy this expensive software…

Addendum:
Because it’s a funny sunday i install the 32bit automatic installation files… Wow - what a surprise the files are equal (except the installation routine) - more surprise the OUTDATED fcgi started… but of course with failures… so status is - startet but not working…

Next try “No input file specified” … same installation file, same procedure… thats ridicolous

Had i known this earlier i would not have bought the software. It’s not the business of the customer to repair this…

I am not working with SC from some month ago because i am doing other thigs, BUT i am worried If Sc is failing, I need to update my projects to new version and i dont want have problems with erros!!!.

I have no experience with Centos / linux so I can’t tell. We work with 10 devs without issues on a Windows hosting. If you install scriptcase you don’t get wamp on your pc, but only apache working on a different port. You need to install the database separately. We use Uniform for our production environemnt. “And by the way… of course the windows installation produces also a ton of failures…” it’s not our experience to be honest…
But that doesn’t solve your issue. We’ll look into our own logfiles to see. Will get back here.

I’m using SC 8.1 on Centos 7.2.
I’ve been using the same machine starting with SC8.0 and Centos 7.0 and kept upgrading it.
I don’t remember any issue during setup.

then you’re the lucky one…

I tested this on several machines… and as i say no matter what os you use… error logs are filled…
And the “64bit”-package… which is 32bit…

About the content of error_log :
“dynamic library” are the extension packages. So to enable the connection, you need to follow the steps from our documentation :
http://www.scriptcase.net/docs/en_us…-your-database
The message don’t causes bad functionality of ScriptCase. Only the extensions will not be available before you do the steps from our documentation.
Unfortunately the package changes according with the distro used. Because this , the user needs to activate the extension and install the libraries informed in the our documentation.

None of these alerts prevents the ScriptCase operation.

Please, update your Operational System to get the latest packages. The ScriptCase 8.1 works correctly on CentOS 6+ ( Possibly on the CentOS 5 works correctly too ).

About the 32bit package :
Yes, the scriptcase installer uses the 32bit apache and PHP, because the PHP 5.6 64bit is experimental, the only homologated for 64bit is the PHP 7.0 .

But, On our tests , the installer works correctly on the Debian 6+(32 and 64) , Ubuntu 14+(32 and 64) , Centos 6+(32 and 64), OpenSuse 12+(32 and 64) and others distros.
( all linux cited were installed with a fresh installer and the minimum package for server )

Sorry… but we use since a long time CentOS 7. now CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core) (CentOS5 is history… )
Our servers are all the time up to date

Usually no one can use a server with minimal install ONLY for Scriptcase 8.1…

I tried it again to install scriptcase and the result is (again) this time:

I can login!
But i recieve a script case popup with the Information “warning”… Text WARNING… hmmm_

I can import the “project Manage” project, compile it and run it… .
Every time after login i recieve the empty window “warning”…

Install a new centos 6 server is out of the question…

I’m going slightly mad…

After i can login - i want to register my license… but i think i change the permission to the httpd user = apache.
Ok - i do this - fine…
I log in - fine

===================================
NO new lines in the error log - fine !
I register the license without problem - i log out…

I clear the httpd-logs and restart the server…
I want to log in again
I use the credentials and click login

And… ERROR [SIZE=12px]ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE[/SIZE]

Now the error log is full again…

I restart the webserver

http:sc.xx.xx/scriptcase I come to the login window

Because the installation package is no permanent solution i was looking for a provisional solution.
So iv’e tested some things.

My Environment is CentOS 7.2., Mariadb 5.5.50, Postgre, Apache 2.4.6, php 5.6.25, php 7.0.6 (7 not for fun - for typo3.8)
It is completely illusory to use a new machine with nothing installed on it or a old machine… the trend is too fast.

After i’m a litte bit lazy i’m searching for an ‘good’ environment.
I tried ampps - but ampps is strongly overloaded and useless.

Now we come back to the friends of apache :slight_smile: so i used xampp 5.6.24.

xampp - but i use only apache, perl and php.

I installed scriptcase_linux_installer_x86_64_en_us_v8.1.049.run and as before - i can’t start the package - only errors.

In xampp i installed ZendGuardLoader and opcache, customize the php.ini and create a vhost.
I don’t start mariadb from xampp!

In the vhost i use - without changes - /opt/NetMake/v81/wwwroot !

And horray ! it works - without any error message!.

That shows us that the php evironment in the installation package is obviously flawed!

This environment should be corrected as soon as possible ! - from NetMake!
And it would be a honest way to remark that only the installer is 64bit - not apache and php!

I describe this way only therefore, because it might be possible that someone else had such problems as I

Three years later!!!
NetMake still have not made proper installation routines

If anyone asks me if he should buy scriptcase I will advise against it
