Netmake, please listen to us.. Please

NETMAKE never listened to the user voice and I doubt they ever will. This is just their mentality :frowning:
Their thinking is like this:

  • we put more work and features when we make more money
    BUT
  • they never make more money because:
  • they do not pay attention to details (part of mentality)
  • they do not know English well enough
  • they do not communicate with the users
  • carelessness seem to be a priority
  • and finally the most important factor is: THEY DO NOT OFFER WHAT USERS WANT BUT RATHER WHAT THEY ā€œTHINKā€ is good for them

Here is an example:
We have asked at least a dozen of times to add a super simply feature like FOLDER NAME (column) on the application list. I have a project with over 500 Apps. Often need to locate the App (without using the Search, because I do not remember the name). Sometimes I need to see in which folder the App resides, and having 30-50 folders makes it very hard to locate. If I could simply list All apps with their folder name in the main panel it would be super convenient.

Adding something like this would be rather quite easy and quick.
I could bring a 100 examples like this, where improving or fixing things would be the matter of minutes TO hours. Not a big expense on the development site.

For the cost of ONE SC LICENSE they could have all English translation fixed everywhere (from GUI to HELP files) in a matter of few days-weeks.

For that reason I see no feature for NETMAKE and perhaps because Netmake developers feel the same, there is no progress. This company needs completely new management and new approach to their work otherwise soon it will be dead or at least outperformed by the new tools on the market.

For those who do not know coding very well it is still a choice, but a choice causing at the same time lots of pain and frustration.

so what tools did you use for this page ?

I partially agree with you about Netmake NOT listening to users but give me a PHP generator tool that I can run on Linux and it is better than Scriptcase I am will switch to it now.

PHP-Rad is pretty god but still very fragmented and not fully mature. I guess in a few years they superseded Scriptcase. This tool is already capable of doing everything SC can do and in relatively same amount of time. It is though much more flexible. It will run only on Windows. The GUI is great but support is only through community. It is however pretty cheap and the amount of resources is huge.

I use a program for sound design and manipulation. The company has a simple page where users can vote what features they want implemented first. This company went from being last in the niche to the No.! in 5-7 years and is more popular than two others who are on the market for 40-50 years.
IT IS ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS. OBVIOUSLY NETMAKE lacks both.

I think the number one problem of SC is lack of transparency and zero collaboration with the community.
They simply dont listen and many users are so frustrated (including myself) that will switch immediately to another tool if one was available with comparable features.

I think that there are some tools that are quite close to SC, if not over. Perhaps younger than SC, but if they provide professional supportā€¦ Point for most of the devs here is that you do not ā€˜simplyā€™ move your code into other tools, it most often will lead to a full rebuild. That is a thing if you have a lot of projects or a large application. It costs time to -learn the new tooling, -to find the best way of achieving things in that tool, and then rebuild, test and deploy. If you are working with SC for many years, then it is something you would only do if you really have to. But with a simple google, you will find alternatives that are quite capable to replace SC. At some point you have to rebuild anyways, and then it is good to have investigated the available options.

HI,
I would like to point out that in addition to not listening to their customers about future implementations, they also ignore who pays for support. when the problems are found and certified by assistance as reproducible and real they are not corrected, look at some of my open tickets! the one on security is absurd, open for 11 days and concerns all applications with login generated by SC.

the situation is getting ridiculous, a change of course is urgently needed!!
not to mention the one with paypal!

I have tickets open for more than two years and still there.
I had first to convince their L1 support it was a real bug , because normally they say they are not able to reproduce it. Then, when you show them it is a bug and that they can replicate it also using their trial version on their server, they finally open the ticket and leave it open forever.
I stopped paying support. It is useless.

I am looking for a dev tool working on Linux. I know about your tool Albert but the development environment is Windows only. I can deploy to Linux but I cannot develop directly on Linux.

@maxi, Iā€™m not advertising here, Iā€™m here as a user of Scriptcase, as being a representative for the University of Groningen, a long-time user with a huge codebase. I donā€™t think there are many alternatives on Linux, except for toolsets like Laravel, Yii. etc. Nothing like Scriptcase afaik.

Hy Albert.
I agree 100%.
Actually I am one of those ā€œoldā€ geek (I am 52 now) that started with Commodore64, moved to Amiga, then IBM OS/2 Warp then fall in love with Linux (at the time you had to compile the kernel yourself and the only distribution available was slackware) . I never really felt confortable using Windows but I think I probably need to go a good doctor and solve this problem myself.

Cheers, Max

I miss my my Amigaā€¦

hi,
netmake should do a very simple thing, send a questionnaire to customers with priorities for fixes and future developments.
once the road has been traced, publish it saying what they will do in the next versions.

hi,

I have been paying for support for years is it possible for a recognized security bug to remain open for more than two months?

TBH, security bugs should be handled asap, and imho paying support has nothing to do with bugsā€¦

you may be right, but the security bugs, which plague all logged in applications should be quickly fixed and not left there for months

I agree. But it should not matter if you pay for support or not. Security issues should have the highest prio.
